Criteria for the lending of works
When deciding whether to lend works from our collection, we apply four criteria that we treat equally. The first two points concern aspects of content, which are weighed up by the curatorial team. If a loan is approved by you, the conservators will decide whether it is possible for conservation reasons and under what conditions it can be carried out. Their vote is binding for the management team. Bearing in mind the enormous effort that a loan entails, we finally weigh up whether it is justifiable from an ecological point of view. You can find our current loans in the Exhibitions menu under “Loans on travel”.
Our criteria:
1. how exactly is the loan request for the work in question justified?
2. what do we find out about the loan that we could not find out in our own exhibition contexts?
3. what is the condition of the work? What conservation risk is associated with the loan?
4. what about ecology and sustainability? Is the energy expenditure associated with the loan justifiable?
